Mom VS Kiddos

Kids 1 Mom 0
The kiddos and I were playing when they decided to jump on me. I should know better when they are both coming at me but I tried to take them on. Riley was sitting on my knees and Brenden was holding her hands as he tried to stand on my belly. Riley was scared and let go of Brenden who then fell backwards and onto my face giving them nice fat lip.

This after I have applied ice. So tomorrow morning I should look real cute.

Ouch!

Brenden's first fat lip. We were in the bathroom brushing teeth and Brenden fell hitting his mouth on the step stool. This has happened many times beofre but this was the first that he cause bodily harm to himself.

His lip bleed for a short time and grew in size. He cried for a short time but with a little TLC he was over it. I guess he is a tought boy. Brenden not sure what to do with this new bump on his lip. He using his tongue to help stop the bleeding too. When he did not have his binky or is cup in his mouth this it what he was doing. His lip looks good this morning. Still a little fat and raw but he does not care. He is still licking his lip and rubbing his tongue on it but you have to look close to see his ouchy.

ONE Year Ago...

we were struggling to say good-bye to daddy has he prepared to head to work for the next 15 months. It's hard to believe that we made it through a year already. Time has gone by fast. We are down to less then 90 days. We are still waiting to hear a date of their return but we have been told that they will be home some time between 15 November and 15 December.

Look how young and little my kiddos were a year ago.
Daddy's Girl. Can't wait to see this again.
We are anixously waiting the return of all out soldiers. Riley is asking regularly when are we going to pick up daddy from work. She is more then ready to have her daddy home again. She understands more about this deployment then I thought she did. She likes to listen at the meetings to see when daddy will be home too. I am hoping to learn more by mid-October when we head to our next meeting. Hoping that good news (something we don't already know) will come out of the meeting.

Butterflies, Butterflies

Thank You Nana and Papa for the butterfly wings.
Riley was super excited about receiving them in the mail and then had to wear them right away. This is what she wants to be for Halloween too so they will be woren often from now and until then and I sure long after.
A very proud butterfly.
So mom was not paying attention when putting the wings on we had them on upside down in the pictures but we fixed them and Riley was done having her picture taken.
Riley wanted Brenden to play along but Brenden did not like being a butterfly.
"Get these wings off of ME!"

Learning New Things

So I was doing laundry this morning and I walk out to see this.....
Brenden in the nude holding his diaper that he was wearing the last time I checked.
He goes and gets his diaper that he has taken off by himself and hands it back to me. Then I instruct him to lay down so we can put it back on. Things are good for about 2 minutes.
He begins to take it off again. I caught him the act this time. I guess he will no longer be running around in a diaper because I will find in the nude.

I guess we will be potty training sooner if he keeps this act up. I was hoping to pass this job off to his daddy but at this rate I will be starting the process.

DUM-DUMS and Cars

So my kids enjoy Dum-Dum suckers. Brenden has to eat them without his clothes because he drools all over and causes a huge mess. Riley eats her sucker in about 5 minutes and in two bites.
Look at those faces.
Not only do my kids enjoy a sugary treat but they also enjoy playing cars and trucks together. Brenden is still learning how to play like Riley does but he is helpful when Riley shows him what to do. Here they are lining the cars and trucks up for a show. Looks like a traffic jam after a football game or the highway at rush hour.

Feeling Better

Can you see that Brenden is feeling better? He is back to tormenting Riley and playing silly fun games too. I am not sure where he learned this one at but we all have done this when we were little and young. Either way both kids had blast playing together. His fever finally broke this morning and stayed away. We are still working on the diarrhea but we will have to deal with this until he finishes his meds and for the following week.

Long, Rough Night

Were do we start with the day we had yesterday. First off it was pay day and guess who needed groceries? That's right the Ringman's. So we made a long dreaded trip to the commissary (grocery store on post). Not the place you want to be when everyone gets paid. We made it through our shopping without too many crazy events. As we waited in the LONG line to check, Brenden began to fall asleep. I notice then that he felt warm to the touch. Once we made it home he finished his nap and woke up feeling a little warmer. Nothing that Tylenol could not take care of, or so I thought. Fever broke we are back to normal playing with sissy. Not long after that we were back to square one with a fever (101 under the arm) and not eating and crying and wining. More Tylenol. It did not seem to help so we headed to the worse place on post, the ER. We arrived at 800 and waited and waited and waited. Listening to the others that have been sitting and waiting talk about how long they have been there and how excited they were to see each be called back. I thought for sure this was a mistake and that we would be sent home with Tylenol and Motrin reason because of teething. Well we are called back for vitals and find Brenden's temp to be at 104.2, not going home being told he is teething tonight. After receiving both Motrin and more Tylenol we waited some more. While waiting, his fever broke and he wanted to play with sissy again. Once we were called back to see the "doctor" we answered any and every health question you could think of and then she looked Brenden over. Finding nothing more then a burger nose, we were sent out the door with some meds for fever, allergies and nasal congestion. We headed home at 1030-1100. This was a record breaking trip for us at the ER. Two an half - three hours for a trip was better then many other trips. Making it home and getting a few hours sleep before our crazy day started today with more meds to keep this fever down and now diarrhea (side effort from meds). Keeping this kid hydrated will be our task today. More updates along the way.

Art Work

Art center is now open. Both my kids wanted to paint and color the other day. So we opened up the art center. Brenden colored using crayons. I think I will get Brenden some water colors too so he can paint with sissy. Riley found her water colors and paint book. Notice that she loves the color black. She is still learning to use more then one color when she is coloring, painting or drawing.
Here they are both enjoying their art projects.

13 Months Old

My baby is growing up way too fast. Brenden is 13 months old today. He is very different then Riley was at this age. He is an explorer and does not need his mommy right there with him all the time. He loves to torment his sister. Pulling hair, hitting, teasing her with toys. Oh yes he knows all the trick already. But he also loves his sister and makes sure that she is ok if she is upset or if mommy is getting after her too. They do have their moments when they enjoy the same activity. Such as watching cartoons. Dora, Diego, Sherk just to name a few. Brenden is an outdoors baby. He loves to play at the park and swing with sissy or go down the slide or play in the water, clothes and all. Brenden is all boy.

Sleepy Day

Yesterday morning I left the kids playing in the livingroom as I went to get ready for the day. I realized that as I took my shower I hear no crying, yelling, or kids coming in and out of the bathroom. I finished quickly. As I came out of my bedroom I found the reason to the quiet shower. Brenden fell asleep reading a book. Not only did his day start this way.................

................it ended this way too.
While I was making dinner I placed Brenden in "baby jail" so he would not get burned on the stove/oven. I noticed again how quiet he was and found his sound asleep in his chair. Not only was he asleep before dinner was done (at 6:15) but Riley had fallen asleep on the coach. Both the kids were asleep before 6:30 last night. We had a very early morning today. Maybe I can eat dinner with my kids tonight and not by myself.

Look What I Can DO!

Here we go. Brenden has learned to climb on the step stool in the bathroom. After watching sissy climb up the steps, what does Brenden do................CLIMB up the steps.
Lets see what I can reach.
I can see more from this step.
Now what does sissy do up here?
OH, bruch her teeth. I want my toothbrush.
Brenden has learned to climb the step stool to bruch his teeth. He wants to do whatever his BIG sister is doing. So I have to watch the two of them because Riley wants her space. This in turn causes a power struggle.
What will Brenden learn/want to do next?

Old is "New" Again

Riley has been talking about getting baby Molly a bed for a long time. Every time we would go to the store she would look for a bed for Molly. When she could not find one she would say, "I will have to ask Santa Claus." So the other day while cleaning out the toy boxes and taking things to the garage I found a bed for Molly. I had saved my Cabbage Patch playpen from when I was a "little" girl. It was hanging in the garage wall waiting to be used. I brought it inside for Molly and Riley was very excited. Poor Molly went straight bed and Riley took her back to the bedroom so it would be quiet while Molly to go to sleep.

Molly in her "new" bed.
